Common Questions
Why is there a 3-year limit?
We prefer promises that can be kept. Three years is a human-sized distance—far enough for change, close enough to guard with care. We want every letter to arrive safely, within a window we can truly hold.
Why is this a paid service?
To keep this space quiet and safe. AfterTime is an independent studio. We don’t run ads, track behavior, or sell data. The $4.99 fee covers the storage and protection needed to keep your letter sealed until its day comes.
Can I edit my letter after it is sealed?
No. Just like dropping a physical letter into a mailbox, sealing is final. It’s part of the ritual—a moment of commitment, followed by a gentle letting go.
What is the cost of a time capsule?
Each letter costs $4.99. It includes one recipient, encrypted storage, and guaranteed delivery up to 3 years in the future.
Who can read my letter?
Only the future recipient. Your words are encrypted. Even we—the makers of AfterTime—cannot read them.
Do I need to create an account?
No. We believe in removing friction. Drafts are saved locally, and if you pause writing, we’ll send a magic link so you can continue on any device.
How will the letter be delivered?
On the date you choose, the recipient will receive an email. For privacy, the email does not contain the letter. It contains a secure key that opens a private page where the letter unfolds.
What if the recipient’s email becomes invalid?
If delivery fails, we will notify you. You can provide an updated address, or receive a full refund if the letter cannot be delivered.
